On 2/10/07 at approximately 12:35 a.m. Wood County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to 3828 FM 2869 in reference to a disturbance. Upon arrival at the scene, Deputies learned of two individuals fighting and one individual identified as Kevin Slaton of Hawkins was deceased.

Investigators were called to the scene where it was determined that Mr. Slaton had died as the result of an apparent knife wound to the back. Upon further investigation, Investigators determined that Adam Brown had stabbed Mr. Slaton in the back. Adam Brown was booked into the Wood County Jail on a manslaughter charge. The subject bonded out on February 11, 2007 on a $15,000 bond.
