10th,
Corporal
Jacob
Richardson
of
the
Wood
County
Sheriff’s
department
answered
a
report
of a
stabbing
at
3828
FM
2869.
Kevin
Slayton
had
been
stabbed
in
the
back.
Sgt.
Kelly
Cole
was
called
to
the
scene
to
investigate.
Slayton
died
as a
result
of
the
stabbing.
Jerry
Owens
and
Slayton
had
been
in
an
argument.
Owens
sustained
some
injuries
and
was
taken
to
the
Quitman
ER
by
his
girlfriend.
Owens
had
an
outstanding
warrant
out
of
Wood
County
and
was
arrested.
Kandy
Boyd,
who
was
also
at
the
scene,
was
also
arrested
for
an
outstanding
warrant
out
of
Upshur
County.
The
report
states
that,
as a
result
of
the
investigation,
Adam
Stanley
Brown
was
arrested
for
manslaughter.
A
person
commits
an
offense
if
he
recklessly
causes
the
death
of
an
individual.
This
offense
is a
second
degree
felony.
The
investigation
into
the
circumstances
of
the
stabbing
is
continuing.
Authorities
were
awaiting
the
medical
examiner’s
report
and
the
results
also
of
DNA
evidence.
Brown
was
released
on a
$15,000
bond.
