Brief
pursuit
and
accident
follows
Steven
Morris
shooting
incident
On
December
11th, at
approximately
6:30
a.m.,
Wood
County
deputies
responded
to a
report
of a
subject
shooting
at a
residence
at 142
CR 4918.
The
shooter
left the
scene
and was
located
by Sgt.
Randal
Lain
Sr.,
traveling
north on
Hwy 37.
A short
pursuit
ensued
which
resulted
in the
deputy
and the
suspect
being
involved
in an
accident
on Hwy
37 near
Forest
Hill
Church.
Other
deputies
arrived
and the
suspect
was
taken to
ETMC.
The
suspect
was
identified
as
Steven
Morris,
45. Sgt.
Lain was
also
taken to
ETMC and
later
released.
Morris
was
taken
into
custody.
He was
charged
with
felon in
possession
of a
firearm,
evading
with a
vehicle,
and
aggravated
assault
on a
public
servant.
Additionally,
the
Texas
department
of
Public
Safety,
which
investigated
the
accident,
is
charging
Morris
with DWI,
3rd
offense.
Morris
is in
the Wood
County
Jail.
