Jeanes, Wheeler & Holmes
Sworn-in January 1st

Eleven elected Wood County officials were sworn-in Monday, January 1 at 9 a.m. in the 402nd District Court. Included among those officials was Bryan Jeanes, newly-elected Wood County Judge, Jim Wheeler, newly elected Criminal District Attorney, and newly-elected Justice of the Peace-Precinct 3, Clarence "Clancy" Holmes, Jr. These three officials live in the Holly Lake/Hawkins area.
The ceremony was presided over by G. Timothy Boswell, Judge-402nd District Court.
Seven of the eight other officials sworn-in were re-elected in November's general election. These included Jenica Turner, District Clerk; Brenda Taylor, County Clerk; Jerry Gaskill, Commissioner Precinct-2; Jerry Galloway, Commissioner Precinct 4, and the other three Justices of the Peace: Alice Tomerlin, Precinct 1; Larry Jones, Precinct 2, and Cindy Weems, Precinct-4. All were unopposed in the general election. Taylor and Galloway are Democrats, the remainder Republican.
The newly elected Wood County Treasurer, Beckie Burnett Cannon was sworn in by Judge Bryan Jeanes, for whom she had served as Assistant Treasurer for the past four years.
Jeanes, a Republican outpolled his Democrat opponent Cody Mize by a count of 5,876 to 5,263. Wheeler and Holmes, both Republicans, were unopposed in the general election.
