Wood County Sheriff Report

 The Wood County Sheriff's Department needs you, the public, to help them protect you and your property. You are urged not to hesitate to contact the sheriff¢s office at 903-763-2201 if you notice any suspicious activity in your neighborhood or elsewhere in the county.
January 21st: Deputies performed a traffic stop on a vehicle entering the Wal Mart parking lot with an expired vehicle registration. Deputies made contact with the driver who did not have proof of a driver¢s license. The suspect gave several different names and dates of birth. After several attempts to check the names given, the suspect gave her correct name and date of birth. If was then discovered that the suspect had warrants out of Dallas County. During a search of the vehicle deputies located the suspect¢s picture identification and a small box containing a controlled substance. Denise Ann Nixon was arrested for failure to identify, possession of a controlled substance and a Dallas County warrant.
January 20th: Deputies met a complainant in the lobby of the sheriff¢s office with regard to an assault by contact on CR 3987. The complainant advised that she was touched in an inappropriate manner. The case is under investigation.
January 17th: Deputies were dispatched to CR 2330 with regard to a trailer theft. The manager at Ramey Water advised that their utility trailer was taken by unknown suspects. The case is under investigation.
On the same date, deputies were dispatched to CR 4730 with regard to criminal mischief. The complainant advised that suspect(s) removed wood and windows from his property. The case is under investigation.
Also on this date, deputies spoke with a complainant who advised that while he was checking his coyote traps on FM 3056, a suspect jumped out from behind a tree and displayed a gun toward him in an unsafe manner. The case is under investigation.
January 16th: Deputies were dispatched to CR 4597 with regard to a report of credit card abuse. The complainant advised that unknown suspect(s) had made online purchases with his credit card. The complainant was notified by his bank of the activity on his credit card in New York, NY. The case is under investigation.

January 15th: Deputies were dispatched to CR 1953 with regard to a structure fire. On arrival, the deputies noticed smoke and flames coming out of the roof of the home around the chimney. The home owner escaped without injury.

January 14th: Deputies were dispatched to Holly Lake ranch with regard to unknown suspect(s) dumping bags of garbage in the recreational area.
On the same date, deputies were dispatched to CR 3459 with regard to a harassment complaint. The complainant advised that her neighbor had been harassing her about burning on her property.
In recent reports about criminal investigations, in the Alba area, a stolen motorcycle and a four-wheeler were recovered. In the Mineola area, some hunting equipment, several firearms and several boxes of ammunition were recovered. In the Golden area, a bicycle was recovered. In the Hawkins area, a truck tool box and miscellaneous tools were recovered. Four suspects were arrested for burglary and possession of stolen property. Eleven arrest warrants were issued for burglaries, thefts and assaults.
January 13th: Deputies were dispatched to Indian Gap Street at Holiday Village with regard to a theft report. The complainant advised that unknown suspect(s) had removed several items from outside his home.
January 11th: Deputies were dispatched to Hwy 80 east with regard to a runaway. The complainant advised that a 16-year-old had been living with her aunt and uncle. When her mother arrived to retrieve her, she ran away.
January 10th: Deputies were dispatched to Holiday Villages with regard to a report of criminal mischief. The complainant advised that suspect(s) had broken the door of a travel trailer.
On the same date, deputies were dispatched to meet a complainant on Hwy 37 with regard to a criminal mischief report. The complainant advised that unknown suspect(s) had damaged two of the tires on his truck.
January 9th: Deputies were dispatched to PR 7816 with regard to a burglary report. The complainant advised that a pistol had been removed from the residence. There is a suspect in this case and the investigation is continuing.
January 8th: Deputies were dispatched to PR 7402 with regard to a criminal mischief report. The complainant advised that his television had been damaged.
On the same date, deputies were dispatched to Oriole Street at Holly Lake Ranch with regard to a stolen license plate that had been removed from a 1987 Porsche. The complainant advised that he had just purchased the vehicle and it was not possible that the license plate had fallen off the vehicle.
Finally, on this date, deputies were dispatched to FM 778 on a report of a burglary. Suspect(s) had broken the glass front door of the building. The complainant advised that there was nothing missing from the inside of the building.
January 7th: Deputies were dispatched to FM 1799 with report to an assault. The complainant advised that she had been assaulted by her boyfriend. Deputies arrested the suspect for assault/family violence.
