Tax exemption for L.C. Playhouse; Routine business dispatched

Meeting in regular session Friday, March 6, Wood County Commissioners Court approved the annual renewal of a property tax exemption for Lake Country Playhouse and quickly dispatched a 14 item agenda. Precinct-3 Commissioner Roger Pace presided in the absence of Judge Bryan Jeanes.
Based on the facts that the Lake Country Playhouse has been granted a Texas non-profit corporation and a 501(c)(3) exempt status by the IRA and the Select Theatre owned by the Playhouse has been designated a Texas Historic Landmark under Texas Government Code, the court renewed property tax exemption on the theatre for 2009.
In other action the court approved:
- a two-week County payroll of $274,619.72.
- claims and paid bills totaling $191,501.42.
- employee and family health care claims of $37,274.37.
- an interlocal agreement with the City of Mineola for road materials.
- an interlocal agreement with Winnsboro ISD for road materials.
- monthly activity reports from all four precinct constables.
- appointment of Beverly Shields, Mineola to the Wood County Child Protection Board.
- re-appointment of Ladd Thompson, Mineola to Wood County Industrial Commission Board.
- appointment of Shannon White, Quitman to replace Karen Pendergast on Wood County Historical Commission.
- pubic hearing April 16 at 5 p.m. at Fouke Water Supply Corporation to amend contract 724096.
- re-establishment of section 14 into lake rules for the county's four precinct lakes and establishment of fines up to $500 a day for rules violations.
Personnel actions taken at the meeting included:
- William Joel Vaughn, new hire, deputy sheriff, WCSO, $16.96/hour.
- Curtis W. Robertson, new hire, dispatcher, WCSO, $13.79/hour.
- Darlene Yosten, new hire, assistant auditor, WC Auditor's Office, $15.26/hour.
-Sandra Russell, step change, deputy tax collector, WC Tax Assessor/Collector, from $12.16/hour to $12.92/hour.
Tammy Kennemer, step change, assistant auditor, WC Auditor's Office, from $15.26/hoour to $15.83/hour.
Daphne Carter, step change, 1st assistant auditor, WC Auditor's Office, from $15.83/hour to $16.96/hour.
The next regular meeting of the Wood County Commissioners Court will be Friday, March 20, 2009 at 10 a.m. A special meeting of the court can be called with 72-hour public notice.
