Can't win for losing!
Recently I have had both Democrats and Republicans yelling at me about this space. The Demos are saying things like, " you republicans are all alike" , while the Republicans are nervous because I have repeatedly applauded our new young president for continuing many Bush policies, such as the Pakistan Drone attacks. You gotta know that his liberal anti-war base is furious with him. Evidence of that was seen yesterday (Sunday 4-5-09) on ABC's George Stephanopaulos. Guest liberal, Arianna Huffington, lambasted Barack for all the new troops and a potentially endless war in Afghanistan. She said "history proves that no one can win in that country". Then George Will noted that this was the first time that an Obama "lover" had publically "peeled off" from open support of him.
Then Arianna began another rant by pointing out that Larry Summers, Obama's Economic Advisor, had accepted millions of dollars in speaking fees from the Wall Street Bankers and she went on to blast the administration's dropping of mark to market accounting for the toxic assets. Everybody happy? W.C.
We all remember the story about "killing the goose that laid the golden egg" and that golden egg for America is our work ethic and the desire to better one's self, you know, make things better for our children than it was for us. A desire for profit, some call it greed, drives us all and it has built this wonderful country. A big part of the process has always been the fear of failure and we seem to be removing that with the bailouts and mortgage forgiveness. We must be careful that we don't go too far in that direction. W.C.
