Wood County Sheriff's Report
A reminder from the Wood County Sheriff's department - Wood County Crime Stoppers offers cash rewards for any information that leads to an arrest of a wanted person or persons.
When a citizen calls 903-763-CASH, any information provided remains confidential. Callers can remain anonymous. When a caller gives information, the call is given a reference number. A caller can use this number at a later date to claim a reward if the caller's information led to an arrest. Callers do not need to give their name.
Crime Stoppers may pay a reward up to $1,000 for information that leads to an arrest/indictment.
April 14th: Deputies were dispatched to CR 1941 on a tip from Crime Stoppers. Suspect Travis Tague was found hiding in the residence. Tague was arrested for motion to revoke probation, possession of a controlled substance and assault on a public servant with bodily injury. Bond was set at $58,000. Ramona Denise Pylant was also arrested for hindering the apprehension, possession of a controlled substance and motion to revoke probation. Bond was set at $55,700. Teresa Darlene Johnson was also arrested for possession of a controlled substance and hindering an apprehension. Bond was set at $55,000.
On the same date, deputies were dispatched to a burglary of a motor vehicle. The complainant advised that unknown suspect(s) had entered the vehicle and removed several electronic items.
April 11th: Deputies were dispatched to the Presbyterian Hospital in Winnsboro with regard to an assault. The complainant advised that he had been assaulted at Lake Winnsboro. The case is under investigation.
April 10th: Animal control was dispatched to CR 3860 in Hawkins with regard to several dogs running loose. Deputies contacted the owner of the digs and advised the owner of the problem. The owner stated that the dogs had been vaccinated but had lost proof of the vaccination. The case is under investigation.
On the same date, an animal control deputy was sent to FM 14 in Hawkins to check on the welfare of a dog. The dog was found to have shelter, food and water and poked to be healthy.
Also on this date, deputies were dispatched to Hwy 80 east of Hawkins with regard to a theft. The complainant advised that his laptop computer had been stolen. The case is under investigation.
Finally on this date, deputies were dispatched to CR 2247 in Mineola on a report of a burglary of a motor vehicle. The complainant advised that unknown suspect(s) had entered the vehicle and removed several items. The case is under investigation.
April 9th: Deputies were dispatched to CR 1739 in Yantis with regard to a theft. The complainant advised that his lawnmower had been taken. The case is under investigation.
Also on this date, deputies were dispatched to Hwy 154 west in Yantis with regard to a criminal trespass report. The complainant advised that two subjects who had previously been issued criminal trespass warnings had entered the business and were eating in the restaurant. On obtaining identification from both subjects, both were found to have had criminal trespass warning issued to them. Eric Cash and Robert Cash were arrested for criminal trespass. Both subjects posted a $1,000 bond.
On the same date, deputies were dispatched to FM 14 and Hwy 80 with regard to an assault that had taken place in the county. The complainant advised that she had been assaulted by her boyfriend while she was attempting to remove her belongings from a residence that she shared with the suspect. The complainant advised that she was smacked on the head and face by the suspect. The case is under investigation.
April 8th: Deputies met with a complainant in the lobby of the sheriff's department with regard to a theft. The complainant advised that she had purchased a home and the seller had taken several improvements that should stay with the home. On contacting the seller, the seller advised that the items that had been removed would be taken back to the home. The complainant advised that she did not wish to pursue charges as long as the charges were returned.

During this period, there were 75 males and 9 females at the Wood County Jail for an overall total of 84. Bookings numbered 31 and there were 35 releases.
April 7th: Deputies were dispatched to CR 2298 with regard to the theft of a picnic table. The complainant advised that unknown suspect(s) removed the picnic table from his property
On the same date, deputies were dispatched to PR 8692 (Big Wood Springs) with regard to several fires that had been set in the area. All fires were extinguished and the only damage was to the grass.
April 6th: Deputies were dispatched to the lobby of the sheriff's department to meet with a complainant with regard to a theft of a firearm. The complainant advised that she discovered the firearm was missing when she went to move the firearm to a different location. The case is under investigation.
Also on this date, deputies were dispatched to CR 3250 with regard to a criminal mischief report regarding the complainant's mailbox. The case is under investigation.
April 5th: Deputies were dispatched to CR 1570 with regard to a burglary. The complainant advised that unknown suspect(s) had pried his back door open and removed several items from his home. The case is under investigation.
Also on this date, deputies were dispatched to CR 2163 on a report of a capsized boat at the Lake Holbrook boat ramp. The victim, Aaron Nofsinger had tried to load the boat onto its trailer and the boat had overturned. Nofsinger was not injured and the boat was recovered.
April 4th: Deputies were dispatched to FM 1804 with regard to a report that a 13-year-old female had walked up to a residence and stated that her mother had kicked her out of a vehicle and had not returned to pick her up. The complainant advised that she and her mother were arguing over a cell phone when her mother pulled the vehicle over, told the complainant to get out and then drove away. Contact was made to the complainant's stepfather and the complainant was released to him. The suspect, Robin Braden Scroggins of Quinlan, Texas, was arrested in Rains County for suspicion of driving while intoxicated and endangering/abandoning a child.
April 2nd: Deputies were dispatched to the lobby of the sheriff's department with regard to a stolen cell phone. The complainant advised that his wife stole his cell phone out of his vehicle on CR 2100. The case is closed. The property was returned to its owner.
On the same date, deputies were dispatched to CR 4640 with regard to a burglary. The complainant advised that his boat was parked under his shed. He advised that unknown suspect(s) removed his fishing equipment from a storage box in the building. The case is under investigation.
March 30th: Deputies were dispatched to 1470 Hwy 80 east with regard to shots being fired. On arrival, a complainant escorted deputies to the incident scene. On further investigation, several firearms were located along with two bags of marijuana. Phillip Chike Harbor and Derrick Damond Burley were arrested for possession of marijuana and unlawful possession of a weapon on school premises.
