Dissing the Tea Parties

As was to be expected the Mainstream Media either ignored the Tea Party movement or dismissed it with contempt.
In fact, in at least two instances on a couple of broadcast networks, it went beyond contempt and sank into locker room sexual innuendos worthy of ignorant juveniles. These organizations wonder why their ratings and revenues are in the tank.
They also misreported the turnout which actually exceeded 300,000 at over 3,000 locations nationwide. This was done with no major funding sources and no advertising budget.
But the tea parties did catch the attention of someone in the White House. Even while President Obama was in Trinidid being chummy with the dictator Hugo Chavez, it was announced that, on his return, a panel would be looking at government programs with an eye to knocking out ineffective programs, to the tune of perhaps $100 million.
As some Washington pundit suggested, $100 million is a rounding figure at a regional office of the Department of Agriculture. Obviously, when we're looking at TWO TRILLLION in debt, $100 million is laughable but the administration will spin it as representing good intentions. They believe that all the public needs to perceive is "good intentions." Actual debt reduction doesn't really matter.
So, in fact, they really did miss the point of the Tea Parties. Ordinary Americans CAN do the arithmetic. They know that their children and grandchildren will be burdened by an insurmountable mountain of debt plus interest.
Meanwhile, the administration, in another sleight of hand, did an end run around Congress and set up the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) to launch initiatives promoting "Green Jobs." This purports to be aimed at developing alternative energy sources but is really aimed at killing our coal industry even though electricity produced by a relatively "clean" coal industry produces electricity for most of us in this part of the country. If this happens, your energy bill and mine will see huge increases. This is will be financially disastrous, especially if you are on a fixed income.
Promoting wind and solar is fine, but only if we realize it will produce only a FRACTION to the energy needed for an economy of our size and it will NOT produce the jobs now being advertised.
Two big potential contributors are being totally frozen out of the picture. First, we have a huge amount of our own oil, both offshore and in western oil shale, enough to make us TOTALLY energy independent and create thousands of new jobs. Two - our dormant nuclear power plants are crumbling, yet this is a major source of energy that is now CLEAN and produces few, if any carbon emissions.
Is there any good news? Yes, two small glimmers. It looks like the carbon cap-and-trade nonsense the administration is proposing will have a hard time getting passed. Secondly, a new Rasmussen report indicates that the American public is finally beginning to suspect that the Global Warming crisis is a fraudulent bunch of hooey.
Voters need to realize that the energy policies of this administration defy all logic. If enacted, they will be incredibly expensive and, realistically, leave us as serfs to the foreign oil importers.
