Wood County Sheriff's Report-through 5-13-09

The Wood County Crime Stoppers offers cash rewards for information which leads to the arrest of a fugitive wanted in a case. When you call 903-763-CASH the information you give to Crime Stoppers is confidential and you may remain anonymous.
When you give information, you are assigned a special number that references your call. You can use this number at a later time to claim a cash reward if your information leads to an arrest. You do not need to give your name.
Crime Stoppers can pay a reward up to $1,000 for any information that leads to an arrest and indictment.

May 13th: Deputies were dispatched to CR 2840 at EZ Truck Accessories in Mineola with regard to a report of a stolen U-Haul box trailer. The complainant advised that after checking into one of the box trailer, it appeared to have been stolen from Pasadena. The Pasadena Police Department was contacted with regard to the stolen property.
May 12th: Deputies were dispatched to CR 2820 at the P & B Bait House in Golden with regard to a burglary. Deputies were advised that unknown suspect(s) had entered the building and removed several tools. The case is under investigation.
May 11th: Deputies were dispatched to Hwy 69 at Keep It Storage in Mineola with regard to a burglary. They were advised that several storage units were missing their locks. All renters were contacted and two of the renters advised that items were missing from their units. The case is under investigation.
May 10th: Deputies were dispatched to CR 3870 in Mineola with regard to a burglary. The complainant advised that several items were removed from his unlocked home. There is a suspect and the investigation continues.
On the same date, deputies were dispatched to CR 3595 in Winnsboro in response to a report of criminal mischief. The complainant advised that unknown suspect(s) had cut his barbed wire fence. The case is under investigation.
Also on this date, deputies were dispatched to CR 2724 in Mineola with regard to a theft. The complainant advised that unknown suspect(s) removed a four-wheeler and several tools from an unlocked storage building. The case is under investigation.
May 8th: Deputies were dispatched to PR 5534 in Alba with regard to a criminal mischief report. The complainant advised that unknown suspect(s) had thrown a rock and broken the back window out of her Suburban. The case is under investigation.
On the same date, deputies were on patrol on FM 1799 in Golden when they were approached by a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed. When deputies stopped the vehicle, they could a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. Marijuana was in plain sight. Jonathan Trenton Lawrence Gray was arrested for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
May 7th: Deputies were dispatched to CR 1819 with regard to a burglary. The complainant advised that unknown suspect(s) entered his unlocked shed and removed two lawn mowers. The case is under investigation.
On the same date, deputies were dispatched to CR 1895 in Yantis with regard to a complainant who advised that his Pelican pontoon boat was stolen or floated away from the location where the boat was stored. The case is under investigation.

During this period there were 81 males and 14 females at the Wood County Jail. Bookings numbered 39 and there were 37 releases.
May 6th: Deputies met with a complainant in the lobby of the sheriff's office with regard to a report of harassment. The complainant, who lives on CR 4626 in Winnsboro, advised that some kids would come down the road hollering and playing loud music and would follow the complainant to work. The case is under investigation.
May 5th: Deputies were dispatched to CR 1687 in Alba with regard to a report of a stolen four-wheeler that was stored at the owner's cousin's residence. The complainant advised that, while making the report, an unknown suspect dropped the four-wheeler off at the complainant's residence. The complainant said the four-wheeler was missing a fender, the gas tank and lights. The case is under investigation.
On the same date, deputies were dispatched to FM 312 in Winnsboro with regard to a verbal dispute. On arrival, deputies noticed a white female exiting a light brown passenger car. They made contact with her and she began telling the deputies what was going on at the residence. On checking her via the state computer, it indicated that the vehicle she was using had been stolen out of Balch Springs. Ginger Lee Edwards of Fort Worth was arrested for theft of property, over $1,500 and under $20,000.
May 4th: Deputies were dispatched to Hwy 69 to Keep It Storage in Mineola. The complainant advised that unknown suspect(s) cut the lock off a storage unit that he rents and removed several items. The case is under investigation.
On the same date, deputies were dispatched to CR 1660 in Alba with regard to a stolen four-wheeler. The four-wheeler was stored in an unlocked storage building. The case is under investigation.
Also on this date, deputies met with a complainant in the lobby of the sheriff's department. The complainant advised that she was assaulted by a lady who came to her home with one of her friends. The complainant advised that the assault stemmed from a discussion over politics and a poker game. The assault took place on CR 2436 in Mineola. The case is under investigation.
May 3rd: Deputies were dispatched to FM 312 in Winnsboro with regard to a vehicle in high water. On arrival, deputies noticed a vehicle with water up to the top of the tires and a subject inside the vehicle. The subject was sitting inside the vehicle in the passenger seat and the water had already flooded the floor of the vehicle. The subject advised he was alright but visibly shaken and afraid. The subject was watched to dry land and his parents were called to come and pick him up.
May 2nd: Deputies were dispatched to FM 515 in Como with regard to a burglary. The complainant advised that the home is owned by his parents and that because the doors were not locked, there is no way to tell how anyone went into the residence. He advised that his wallet was taken from the home. The case is under investigation.
On the same date, deputies were dispatched to CR 4200 to meet with a complainant, K. Lee Frazier. She advised that she was assaulted by Sarah Denise Benson on FM 852 when Frazier told Benson that her boyfriend's uncle's horse was out of its pen. Benson was issued a citation for assault by contact.
May 1st: Deputies were advised to contact the Harmony school with regard to a report of a student that had been in a fight with her mother. The student's face had several bruises, scratches and scrapes. Child Protective Services was called. The student advised them that the mother had told her to get out of the house. The case is under investigation.
On the same date, deputies were dispatched to the lobby of the sheriff's department to meet with a complainant who advised that an unknown suspect(s) had taken his mailbox and post. The case is under investigation.

April 30th: Deputies were dispatched to CR 2100 in Mineola on a report of a theft.. The complainant advised that unknown suspect(s) removed his chain and key lock from his gate and left the gate standing open. The case is under investigation.
On the same date, deputies were dispatched to Hwy 80 east at Jarvis College in Hawkins with regard to a report of criminal mischief. The complainant advised that an unknown suspect(s) had keyed her vehicle. The case is under investigation.

There has been an increase in burglaries of vehicles. The sheriff's department reminds you not to leave things inside your vehicle in plain sight. Items such a GPS devices, Ipods, purses and cell phones are all easy targets for thieves. Don't leave them on the seat of your vehicle or sitting on the dash.
