Recent verdicts from Wood County courthouse
On June 25th, following a three-day jury trial, a Wood County jury of four women and eight men found Stephen Delain Rambo, 38, of Sulphur Springs, guilty of the felony offense of possession of a controlled substance, penalty group I, less than one gram.
On October 6th, 2008, following a routine traffic stop by Winnsboro police officers, Rambo was arrested for possession of methamphetamine. He was also in possession of a large amount of currency.
Sentencing by Judge Timothy Boswell has been scheduled for July 27th in the 402nd Judicial District Court of Wood County.
In other matters before the court, on May 28th, Joshua A. Wade entered a plea of guilty to the manufacture of a controlled substance, penalty group 1, 200 grams or more but less than 400 grams. Wade was arrested ob October 21st, 2008, for this offense in Winnsboro. Wade was sentenced to 10 years in prison.
On May 28th, Emmett Leon Lambert entered a plea of guilty to the possession of a controlled substance, penalty group 1, one gram or more, less than four grams, with intent to deliver. Judge Boswell sentenced Lambert to 10 years in prison. Lambert had been arrested for this offense on May 18th, 2008 for this offense by the Wood County Sheriff's Department.
On June 15th, following a revocation of community supervision, Brandon Forrest Roberts entered a plea of true and Judge Boswell sentenced him to five years in prison. The offense was possession of a controlled substance, penalty group 1, four grams or more, but less than 200 grams, with intent to deliver. Roberts was arrested June 11th, 2008 for this offense by the Wood County Sheriff's Department.
All these cases were prosecuted by Wood County Criminal District Attorney Jim Wheeler.
