On April 8th, deputies from the Wood County Sheriff's Department, along with Alba police officers and Constable Pct. 1 Steve Bowser, served an outstanding arrest warrant at a residence located at 764 CR 1500 in Alba.
The warrant was for Michael DeWayne Howle, a 43-year-old white male. The offense cited was possession of stolen property out of Smith County/
While serving the warrant, officers observed some firearms in the residence which they suspected were stolen. A secondary warrant was issued to search the residence. The search warrant was served and officers located numerous stolen items. These included 21 firearms, including rifles, shotguns and handguns; a quantity of methamphetamines over four ounces; a quantity of cash plus other miscellaneous and possibly stolen items.
The wife of Michael Howle, Casey Leeann Howle, a 35-year-old white female, was also arrested at the scene. Both have been charged with possession of a controlled substance - methamphetamine - over four ounces. Other charges may follow, pending further investigation.
The sheriff's department also made other narcotic-related arrests in the Alba area. Alba Police Chief Timmy Koonce along with Wood County deputies Aaron Warren and Nathan Adams responded to a residence at 250 CR 1681.
The officers were serving a felony warrant and in the process they located a significant quantity of crystal methamphetamine. The officers then arrested Larry Leroy Jackson, Jr., a 38-year-old white male, for the felony warrant of manufacturing/delivery of a controlled substance, Penalty Group 1, methamphetamine - over four grams and under 200 grams.
Tiffani Rose Taylor, a 29-year-old white female, was also arrested for possession of a controlled substance, Penalty Group 1, methamphetamine - over four grams and under 200 grams.
On the evening of April 13th, Wood County Deputy Zachary Soto and Alba Police Officer Juan Ramirez, responded to a location in Alba with regard to a vehicle that was possibly stolen from Addison, Texas.
The officers located the vehicle and made contact with the suspect who claimed to own the vehicle. The subject was identified as Jon Chance Manzare, a 26-year-old white male, from Bedford, Texas.
A determination was made that Manzare was not the owner of the vehicle. He was arrested for theft of property - over $20,000 and under $100,000. Permission was obtained to search the location and officers discovered numerous items of narcotic contraband and paraphernalia along with a loaded .44 special handgun.
The officers also located a sizable quantity of methamphetamine weighing approximately 17 grams. Manzare was also charged with possession of a controlled substance, Penalty Group 1 - over four grams and under 200 grams.
Manzare was booked into the Wood County Detention Facility to await magistration for these offenses.
