Inky & John The Saga Continues

E-mail Print PDF
The Vet, Again
I have a notebook computer just so I can go into another part of the house and hide when I need time to write. There is a very good reason for this - - the Inky mob! So I'm in the sewing room this time with the door closed. So I'm all set, right? I'm good to go, right? Suddenly I hear a noise at the door. Then comes the voice . . .
"John! I know you're in there! We have to talk" My wife, right? Wrong! It's the Inky mob, led by the notorious Inky, himself. "John! Please open the door." Please? He never says please, so I decided I'd better check it out. I go to the door and open it just a crack. That's all the space Pancho needs, so in he comes. Well, the day is shot, anyway, so I let everyone in.
"John, do you recall that we are supposed to go shopping for clothes?" said Inky as he proceeded over to my chair.
"Yes, I remember, but I also remember telling you that we had two months to get it done." I answered.
He gave me the evil eye and, for a moment I thought I had him. Wrong again. "Well, how about this? We will all need our shots updated and a mini-checkup before we go. Why not get that done now?"
He was right, as usual. "OK, I'll call Dr. Stevens and make an appointment."
Inky smiled his Inky smile and they trotted for the door. "Oh, by the way, does the vet still have the pretty girls working there?" He asked as they stopped in the doorway.
"I guess so, why do you ask?"
"Pancho asked me to find out.", was his answer.
"AHA! Pancho, huh? Well you tell the little latin lover that I'm not putting up with ANY of his tricks any more! He'd better be a gentleman while we are there."
"I'll tell him, but you can't change a leopard's spots. You must give Pancho a little slack. He's very hot blooded, you know, and he is also very young."
I thought about it for a moment, then answered, "OK, Inky, here's the deal. I'll stop worrying about him if you'll kind of take charge and try to steer him in the right direction."
He gave me a big nose kiss and hopped down. As he left I could hear him grumbling and I figured he was trying to decide what to tell Pancho.
Do I think this will work? When hippos fly!
