Child dies in tractor accident.  On September 13th, at about 6:40 p.m., the Wood County Sheriff's Office received a call regarding a child injured in an accident involving a tractor.
When officers arrived at a location on FM 312, the child had already been taken by EMS to the hospital at Winnsboro. The two-year-old had been riding on a tractor with an adult relative. The tractor hit a rough bump and the driver lost his grip on the child. The driver was unable to stop the tractor in time and the child went under the tractor.
The child was pronounced dead at approximately 7:25 p.m.
Sept. 16th: Deputy Nathan Adams was dispatched to the 1400 block of Hwy 80 where Deputy Guy Powell had been dispatched with regard to a burglary. Security had a suspect in custody. The suspect was found in a room that was not his. Deputies were advised that this suspect was a suspect in several thefts. After consent to search, questionable items that might be stolen marijuana were located. Antajun Guinn was arrested for possession of marijuana in a drug-free zone.
Sept. 15th: Sgt. Arthur Judge was dispatched to Hwy 154 and CR 1950 in Quitman with regard to a criminal mischief report. The complainant advised that unknown suspect(s) had broken the windows out of the building. The complainant advised that he is a friend of the owner of the building (old Lunkers Club) and he had notified the owner. The case is under investigation.
Sept. 14th: Deputy Sam Threadgill was dispatched to the 3000 block of CR 3550 in Hawkins with regard to a criminal mischief report. The complainant advised that unknown suspect(s) damaged his mailbox. This case is under investigation.
Sept. 13th: Deputy Samantha Sellers was dispatched to the 400 block of CR1236 in Quitman with regard to a criminal mischief report. The complainant advised that unknown suspect(s) had broken several pieces of a fence that enclosed a residence. He is the caretaker of the residence. He advised that he did not find that anything had been taken. The case is under investigation.
Sept. 12th: Deputy Chris Bettis was dispatched on a report of a theft in the 1300 block of FM 288 in Quitman with regard to a burglary. The complainant advised that unknown suspect(s) had broken his garage open and removed a Polaris four-wheeler. The case is under investigation.
Sept 11th: Sgt. Arthur Judge was dispatched to the 200 block of CR 2174 in Quitman with regard to the theft of a mongoose bicycle. The complainant advised that he loaned the bike to his neighbor's child and when he went to retrieve the bike, the neighbor advised that the bike had been stolen. The case is under investigation.
Sept. 10th: Sgt. Judge was dispatched to the 100 block of CR 2211 in Mineola with regard to the burglary of a motor vehicle. The complainant advised that unknown suspect(s) had entered her vehicle and taken a cell phone and several compact discs. The case is under investigation.
On the same date, Deputy Mark Miller was dispatched to the 700 block of CR 3859 in Hawkins with regard to a burglary of a residence. The complainant advised that his home was burglarized and several firearms were stolen along with a can of coins. There is a suspect in this case. The investigation continues.
Sept. 9th: Deputy Bettis was dispatched to the 2900 block of Hwy 154 west in Quitman with regard to a report of criminal mischief. The complainant advised that unknown suspect(s) damaged an RV by slashing all four tires and tearing the satellite dish off the RV. The case is under investigation.
Sept. 8th: Deputy J.W. Williams was dispatched to the 400 block of CR 3265 in Hawkins with regard to some unknown suspect(s) using the complainant's credit card for a transaction with PayPal. The complainant advised that she refused to give authorization for the transaction. The case is under investigation.

Sept. 7th: Deputies Sellers and Threadgill were informed of a burglary in progress on CR 3440 in Hawkins. On their arrival, a complainant advised that he and his friend saw a man leaving the premises and exited through the front door of a cabin they were building. Authorities said the suspect had kicked in the front door. The complainants told deputies that the suspect was not combative and had agreed to wait for the officers to arrive. Traeh Evann Whittington, 28, of Sherman, was arrested for burglary and booked into the Wood County Jail. Nothing was missing from the cabin and no additional damage was done to the site.
Sept. 6th: Deputy Mark Miller was dispatched to FM 3225 in Quitman with regard to a report of criminal mischief. Unknown suspect(s) reportedly pulled a plug and turned on a relief valve and pump that released natural gas liquids in the tank. Officials said the liquid is not oil and most of it would evaporate rather than soak into the ground. The amount of liquid released was about 80 barrels and was valued at $4,800. The Texas Railroad Commission was notified and clean up was started. The case is under investigation.
Sept. 5th: Deputy Jason Farmer was dispatched to FM 515 and CR 4250 in Winnsboro with regard to a possibly intoxicated person. As the deputy arrived on the scene, he observed a white male walking on FM 515 who appeared to be having trouble maintaining his balance. The deputy made contact with the subject, Randolph Whitworth, and detected the odor of an intoxicating beverage coming from his person. Deputy Farmer reported that Whitworth was having trouble with his balance, his speech was slurred and his eyes were bloodshot. Whitworth, 30, of Winnsboro, was arrested for public intoxication and booked into the Wood County Jail.
Sept. 4th: Sgt. Lee Wilkins was dispatched to the 5800 block of FM 49 in Hainesville with regard to a 911 hang up call. The complainant advised the officer that the call was disconnected because her husband had taken the phone away from her and hit her with the phone. Danny Williams, 56, of Mineola, was arrested for assault by contact family violence and interference with an emergency call.
Sept. 3rd: Deputy Miller was dispatched to CR 2276 in Mineola with regard to a burglary of a motor vehicle. The complainant advised that he had left his rig out on the corner of Hwy 69 and FM 779. He advised that his locked truck was broken into and his Ranger CB radio was stolen. The case is under investigation.
Sept. 2nd: Sgt. Wilkins was dispatched to CR 3900 in Hawkins with regard to a burglary of a building. Unknown suspect(s) reportedly broke a window in a locked storage building and had stolen several items. The case is under investigation.
On the same date, Sgt. Wilkins was dispatched to Jarvis Christian College on Hwy 80 east with regard to a theft. Unknown suspect(s) had broken the passenger side window out of a Kia car and stolen two purses. The case is under investigation.
